Hollow metal
is a general term for a commercial door, it is not hollow or
solid metal. The most common core is a "honeycomb" cardboard
sheet. However, some have a foam sheet for insulation and/or sound dampening.
Frames are made to either wrap the edges of the drywall on a stud wall or
to butt up against block/brick on a solid wall opening.
All of the hollow metal doors that we stock are constructed of *'galvanneal'
steel for durability. Pad Doors System, Inc. carries hollow metal products from Artek Door Limited,
Trillium Steel Doors Ltd. and Daybar.
*'Galvanneal'
is a zinc-iron alloy coating applied by the hot-dip process to both sides
of the steel sheet.
